Ways to Get Involved At First Congregational

We have meaningful activities for all ages, some of which meet weekly and others that meet monthly.  Please check out our calendar under Events to see when things are happening here at First Congo!  We love to have volunteers help with our programs, and we have other ways to get involved on our Missions page.

Children’s Ministry

Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” Matthew 19:14. It is our mission to make the pathway clear for the children to get to Jesus. Our children have opportunities to learn of the love of Jesus and of the plans that God has for their lives through many venues.

Sunday services provide age appropriate classes for children ages 4 years of age through 5th grade. Junior Church, which is held during the 9:02  Service and the 10:45 Service, lets the children explore God’s word through a video, music, activities, and Bible lessons. The children have an opportunity to Worship with the adults for a short time before being released to attend Junior Church with their friends and teachers. Sunday School, which is from 10:00-10:35, gives the children an opportunity to learn what God’s word says through the reading of the Scriptures, a time of singing, and activities which help the children apply the truth’s of the lesson to their daily lives.  Sunday School is offered for all ages, including teens and adults.

We have a children’s youth group (called the Penguins) for 3rd – 5th graders that meets once a month where the children enjoy fun activities and learn of Biblical truths from the scriptures to enhance their personal growth and character.

We also have a children’s youth group for ages Kindergarten-2nd grade who meet monthly and do a craft, lesson, snack and activity time.  Currently they are studying Bible Heroes.

Mid July the entire church ministers together to hold a Vacation Bible School for the children. Ages 4 years old through 6th grade attend and enjoy delicious meals, many Bible stories, great music,  mind-boggling science experiments, exciting games and fabulous crafts.

The children are also involved in community service opportunities, drama productions, children’s Sunday School choir performances, and seasonal parties.

Youth Ministry

The Youth Group for Grades 6-12 are called “The Way” because Jesus is the only Way.  They generally meet on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00 at the Church upstairs in the Youth room.  They have a Bible Study, lots of fun, and lots of food!
